Eh…just get yourself a big ol tarp and a roll of duct tape. No need to thank me, I am here to help.

Are you actually incontinent? why would you want a noticable diaper? most people want an ultra discreet one. Are you doing the adult baby thing? maybe just try a few of the institutionalized hospital brands, the ones they use for old folk, they generally tend to suck and are prominent and bright green and rustle when they move.

If you didn’t mean that, if you meant you wanted a discreet one, try Depend, they will even send you a free sample to try:

Probably the two bulkiest adult diapers on the market right now are the Abena X-Plus and the Secure X-Plus. Abena is a European diaper company. In the U.S., you can buy Abenas from various online retailers, including XP Medical and Amazon. Secure is an American company that does not yet have foreign distributors.

If you want a diaper that’s more discreet than these two very bulky diapers but still better than Depends and store brands, check out XP’s site for detailed information about Abena’s other products. Some of Abena’s other lines are less bulky than the X Plus, but they are still very absorbent, and they are easier on the wallet.

Also, check out Slate’s diaper review for comparison of Molicare, Attends, Depends, and generic diapers.

Unfortunately, there is no “perfect adult diaper”. Proctor and Gamble and Kimberly-Clarke make the best diapers by any stretch of the imagination, yet they only make those diapers for young children. P&G left the adult business a long time ago and K-C’s adult line of products is miserable in its ability to provide protection.

Your best bet are diapers that are imported from abroad. In particular, European diapers can provide extended protection, and Japanese products are really the most superior – but unavailable outside of Japan. That said, in the United States, the best options are Abena X-Plus, Molicare Super Plus, Secure X-Plus, and Eurobrief.

The latter most, the Eurobrief, is a rebranded “ID Slip”, I believe; but difficult to get. There is only one supplier here in the US. The others are far easier to get. The Abena and Secure lines are sold at many online outlets, such as http://www.drugstore.com or http://www.xpmedical.com; and the Molicare line can be bought on http://www.walmart.com.

These brands are all remarkably bulky, and get more so once they are used due to the superabsorbant polymers. They are best for the wheelchair or bed bound person, or for nighttime use by those with nocternal enuresis. Each of the manufacturers do make more appropriate daytime products for those with diurnal enuresis or full incontinence.

    Cheers!
