I know for sure that when pregnant you definitely should take your navel piercing out. I would say your vaginal piercings will also have to come out, especially if you are going to have a vaginal delivery!!!! As for the boob piercings, I’m not sure, obviously if you are going to breast feed they will have to come out, I don’t know how they might affect milk production during pregnancy though. Best of luck!!!!
Every ones body reacts differently when they get pregnant and have piercings. You will probably have to take out the rings on your boobs and vagina but just watch the navel piercing to make sure it doesn’t stretch or anything.
I, too, am 22 and I have my nipples pierced. Yes, you will have to take all of the jewelry out when you get pregnant because if you leave in the rings in the nipples, you lactate and, well, to be blunt, with two new holes in each nipple, its just messy. With the vaginal piercing, I have a girlfriend (as in FRIEND, lol) who also has several piercings down there. The doctor told her she also had to take them out in case of emergency, if something goes wrong with the baby in utero, they’ll have to use medical devices, and jewelry will get in the way and make things more complicated. Not to mention, while having the child, the holes of your piercings will get bigger, as they stretch, and can cause you medical problems in the long run like bleeding and pain. All around, it’s much easier to take everything out about your 2nd or 3rd month of pregnancy. If you use stretch mark cream and other lotions THE WHOLE TIME you are pregnant, however, your body will return to the way it was before, and you’ll be able to get everything repierced. I know it isn’t fun to get all that pierced again, but IF you want it all back, you’ll be healthy and fit enough to have 0 problems at that time.
Good luck with your future family!
p.s. Naval piercing will also have to come out because it will stretch when your tummy does and the holes for the piercing will become so large that the piercing will not longer look normal and you’d have to get a much larger gauge rin/ bar to fit in it. Plus, can give you unnecessary stretch marks around the area.
Removing the nipple piercings will be important to breast feeding. As well as the pain you will go through when they start to grow with the pregnancy. Vaginal piercings may be left in place, if they are not in the way of the vaginal opening. I think the OB will ask that you remove them for sanitary and birthing issues. The belly button one is a wait and see…we teased my niece about it because it started to stretch the hole, we told her just to hang a parrot on it. She took it out because it was uncomfortable with her growing tummy. Talk to your doctor, see what methods he or she prefers.
Good luck and best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby !
